How Sanibel Soccer is different
Sanibel Youth Soccer is a recreational soccer club, designed for kids ages 4 through 14. Our program is different than many youth sport groups, in that our goal is to serve all kids, regardless of their athletic ability or, especially, their experience with soccer.
For example…
- Your child will have a 90-minute practice at least once a week. Your coach, a parent volunteer, will spend lots of time teaching basic skills, including how to control the ball, pass, and shoot. Your boy or girl will also play in practice scrimmages, so he or she gets familiar with the game itself.
- When the games begin, your child will be an active participant. Regardless of his or her ability, your son or daughter will play at least half of every game. A cornerstone of our program, this “50 percent” rule makes sure your child is never simply a bench warmer. It also ensures that you, the parent, get a fair value for your money and effort.
- Our teams are small, so your child can play a significant role on the field.
Each U10 and U12 team will
field only 7 players at a
time. Our U6 and U8
teams are even smaller,
playing either 3vs3 or 4vs4
games as recommended by U.S.
Soccer
- Your child will play with kids his or her own age, so he or she is never dwarfed on the field. Our league is divided into five age divisions, and nearly all span just two years each. We have separate divisions for kids ages 4 and 5, 6 and 7, 8 and 9, 10 and 11, and 12 through 14.
